KU vs Michigan State

Here we go. What we all have been waiting for. The Champions Classic tips off with the #3 Kansas Jayhawks taking on the unranked Michigan State Spartans. Tipoff from Madison Square Garden in NYC scheduled for 7pm ET.

The Michigan State Spartans look to bounce back coming off a rough season last year. The Spartans picked up a few key players this off season. First, they bring in former Northeastern standout guard, Tyson Walker. This dude can get after on the defensive end and fill it up on offense. I don’t care where he played last year, if you averaged 18.8 points in D1 basketball, you can play. Second, the Spartans bring in all American freshman, Max Christie. Christie is the real headliner here and he has East Lansing, Michigan BUZZING about his potential. The Spartans also return Hauser, Hall, and Brown, who Tom Izzo will be looking for production from this year.

The Kansas Jayhawks return most of their roster from last year. They lose point guard Marcus Garrett, but add stud transfer, Remy Martin. Martin is more of a score first point guard that can go get 25 quickly. This cat will go at you and fill it up until you tap out. Martin is linked with Ochai Agbaji, Braun, and big fella McCormack. KU will get most of their production from the big 4 just mentioned.

When I look at these rosters, I cant find one starter on Michigan State that is better than any of the starters for the Jayhawks. I expect Remy Martin and Agbaji to fill it up from the perimeter tonight while sticking to a hard nose gameplan that Self will roll out. Give me the Jayhawks. ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK KU!

The Pick : Kansas -4.5

Kentucky vs Duke

In the second game of the Champions Classic, we get the Duke Blue Devils taking on the Kentucky Wild Cats. Two teams that had let down seasons last year, meet again at MSG in NYC. Both teams looking to bounce back from extremely disappointing past seasons.

Duke brings back most of their core last year while adding a few standout freshman. Duke has two of the freshmen in the starting lineup tonight, Paolo Banchero and Trevor Keels. Banchero may be one of the best freshmen in the nation when the season is all said and done. Duke will have Jeremy Roach running the point once again for the Blue Devils with veteran Wendell Moore alongside him.

Kentucky brings in a brand-new look this year, per usual. The Wildcats dominated the transfer portal this off season adding big pieces to their roster. Kentucky adds Kellan Grady, Sahvir Wheeler, CJ Fredrick, and big fella Oscar Tschiebwe. All of these guys were studs for their former teams. The cats will be without Fredrick for tonight’s game.

While the cats bring in all of this experience, they still bring in 2 top recruits in TyTy Washington and Daimion Collins. TyTy Washington will flat out give you all you want. He has a high motor and plays with a lot of heart.

Both teams are trying to make tremendous noise following their let down years. Kentucky is loaded with scoring and veterans. I don’t think Duke can keep up with the scoring that the Cats will bring. Im going to back Coach Cal and the Kentucky Wildcats out of Lexington, KY.

The Pick : Kentucky +3
