Colts VS Seahawks – Is it a Trap?

Vegas wasted no time setting up a trap in week 1. The Seahawks take a visit to Indy for a 12PM game. Vegas opened this line at Colts -2.5. At the time of writing this article, the line is Seahawks -2.5. The public is hammering the Seahawks with over 75% of bets. What did Vegas see to set this line at -2.5 Indy? Is the public missing something?

Game Analysis:

The Colts will be lead by former Eagles QB Carson Wentz. Wentz is fresh off of foot surgery but appears to be good to go for Week 1. Wentz reunites with former Eagles OC Frank Reich. Wentz isn’t the only one on this Indy roster who is banged up. Veteran WR T.Y Hilton has been ruled out and is expected to miss significant time with a “disc issue”. Veteran OL Quinton Nelson was injured at the start of training camp, but appears will give it a go Week 1. Eric Fischer came down with an Achilles injury in camp and will be out week 1. Look for Julien Davenport to fill in Fischer’s role.. Davenport is a solid replacement. Lastly, center Ryan Kelley suffered an elbow injury in camp, but should be good to go Week 1. Xavier Rhodes and Kenny Moore get the task of trying to shut down Seattle’s explosive Recievers. The Colts have not won a season opener since 2013

Russel Wilson remains behind center in Seattle. Wilson will be working under new OC Shane Waldron. Waldron comes from the Rams where he was their pass game coordinator. Waldron likes to play up tempo and be creative. Wilson will have the same threats on the outside with Lockett, and DK Metcalf. Heading into the season, it is expected this Seahawks defense will be much improved. The Seahawks unloaded draft picks last season to acquire Jamal Adams. Adams didn’t live up to expectations in his first season. I expect the Seahawks to have a better idea how to fit him in their schemes this year and for Jamal to return back to the high caliber player he was in New York. Dunbar and Griffin are no longer manning the Seahawks secondary. Their replacements are a large question mark entering the season.

Seahawks Vs Colts Pick:

Even with the Colt’s injuries, books universally opened the line with the Colts as 2 point favorites. I believe there is some reason to doubt this Seahawks team early in the season. Teams typically tend to start slow with a new OC. Will the chemistry be there on the road in Week 1? The Seahawks secondary is also something of concern. Luckily for them, they get a plus matchup against the Colts below average WR corps. While Pittman, Pascal and Paris Campbell are solid, they aren’t going to dominate a game. Wentz is going to be under fire early and often with his banged up OL which will limit his ability to find his open receivers. The banged up OL will also hinder Taylor’s success on the ground. I expect both teams will take some time to catch their stride. Take the Under 50.

The Pick: Colts/Seahawks Under 50
